Doug Kirk (Builder – Regina)
Doug Kirk and Gord Garratt have been curling and volunteering at the Regina Highland Curling Club for many years. They have served on the Board of Directors for a combined total of over 50 years. If there was a curling event at the Highland or in the City of Regina you can bet they were involved.
Gord has been an active curler for over 50 years and Doug has been curling for over 60 years. Both continue to curl almost daily and to be actively involved in what goes on at their club and throughout the community.
Their volunteer efforts at the Highland Curling Club and in the City of Regina have taken very similar paths. Both served on the Highland Club Board of Directors for several years, Gord for over 30 years and Doug for over 20. Gord served as President from 1998 to 2001 and Doug was President from 2001 to 2003. Gord continues to serve on the Board of Directors and is currently the Director of Curling Operations. He is the heart and soul of the Highland and is continually presenting innovative ideas to enhance participation in the sport.
Gord Garratt and Doug Kirk are both true grassroots volunteers. They love the sport of Curling and have been more than happy to give back to their sport. Without the dedication, hard work and commitment of individuals like Gord and Doug our curling clubs could not survive.
